Courses

Cocoon Antenatal is based in the Ribble Valley, Lancashire and covers the East Lancashire area; I am happy to travel within an hour’s radius.

One-to-one sessions are available for new parents and those who have been there before but need a refresher, or want a different birth experience this time round. These sessions can be held in your own home or you can travel to me if you prefer. Courses are flexible, tailored to your individual requirements and previous experience. There is an hourly rate, and you can choose as many or as few as you feel you need, with a minimum of 2 hours.

Alternatively, you can choose from the suggested packages below or if you know others who are pregnant, why not ask about a Friends Course? If time is short, a Labour Day might suit you – a group session, with no more than 6 couples.

New parents course: for parents expecting their first baby or babies

These sessions will normally include

  • normal labour
  • physical skills for labour
  • managing pain
  • interventions

plus a selection of other topics of your choice.

A new parent course will normally include four sessions of 2 hours each. The cost of this course is £140.

Refresher course: for parents expecting 2nd, 3rd or even 4th babies

These sessions will normally include

  • an opportunity to explore your previous experience(s)
  • revisiting the process of labour
  • managing pain
  • brothers & sisters

plus a selection of other topics of your choice.

A refresher course will normally include two sessions of 2 hours each. The cost of this course is £80.

Homebirth

If homebirth is something you are considering and would like to discuss the possibilities and practicalities, this can be arranged as an add-on to one of the other courses, or as a stand-alone course if this is all you need.

 A homebirth session is for 2 hours and costs £40.

Labour day

A group course, attended by a maximum of six couples. The day will usually last for six hours and include refreshments. Lunch may be purchased at the venue where there is an organic cafe. The aim of the day is to explore normal birth, so we will look primarily at the process of birth and ways you can help yourself manage your labour and birth.

 A labour day is one session of 6 hours held on a weekday. The cost of this course is £90 per couple.

There is also the option of an hourly rate, should you require more time over and above any of these packages.
